Tackling emissions from industryFederal regulation of industrial greenhouse gas emissions in the United States, and the implications for Canada

Although the Government of Canada has announced that it intends to harmonize its climate change approach with the U.S., it has not yet introduced regulations to compare to the U.S.'s 2011 requirement that new and expanded large industrial facilities limit their emissions of greenhouse gases. In the face of significant uncertainty posed by legal and legislative challenges in the U.S., Canada urgently needs to implement a comprehensive greenhouse gas reduction plan of its own.
