The Pembina Institute, Ecotrust Canada, MoveUP and Clean Energy Canada have begun joint engagement with the province of British Columbia on a range of environmental, climate and reconciliation issues. This letter outlines our organizations’ shared stances on topics such as clarifying the role and mandate of the B.C. Utilities Commission in helping B.C. to achieve its climate goals, as well as the importance of aligning the province’s climate and energy policy with its commitment to the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (and the opportunities this presents around Indigenous energy sovereignty and other areas of reconciliation).

As groups with a range of expertise and experience in energy planning, we look forward to working closely with the province of B.C. in the months ahead as the provincial government continues to design and refine policy options that will deliver on its climate targets.
