Leaders of the G8 countries, including Canada's Prime Minister, meet in Hokkaido, Japan, from July 7–9, 2008. Climate change is expected to be a major focus at the summit. This summit comes at a critical time in the global fight against climate change. Countries are now six months into a two-year UN negotiation for a post-2012 global climate agreement.
