Achieving methane reductions through carbon pricing in Alberta Policy Briefing

The Government of Alberta expects to achieve significant reductions in methane emissions through carbon pricing policies. There are, however, significant uncertainties and gaps in the regulations that affect the stringency, efficacy and transparency of its carbon levy and Carbon Competitiveness Incentives Regulation at driving methane emission reductions.

This policy brief explains the problems with the current system and provides suggestions to ensure there is a meaningful price on methane emissions in Alberta's carbon pricing system.
