Ian is a senior analyst with the Pembina Institute’s oil and gas program, based in Vancouver. His work focuses on natural resource economics and the role of policy in decarbonizing the oil and gas sector.
He holds a master’s degree in environmental economics and climate change from the London School of Economics, where he researched the impacts of carbon pricing on resource extraction, as well as a master’s in applied economics from BI Norwegian Business School.
Before joining the Pembina Institute, Ian worked at one of Canada’s leading climate and energy modelling firms, where he conducted in-depth analysis of climate policy impacts on technology adoption, macroeconomic performance, and regulatory frameworks. He has also spent time working in corporate finance, advising clients based in Alberta.
Outside of work, Ian is an avid cyclist of all types and enjoys skiing uphill as much as he does down.
