Annie Russell is an analyst with the Pembina Institute's Customer Energy Solutions team. Her work supports utilities, regulators, governments, and communities to unlock the full value of demand-side resources in Canada's evolving electricity system.
Prior to joining the Pembina Institute, Annie assisted the Canadian Renewable Energy Association's Electricity Transition Hub to mobilize best practices in grid modernization across utilities and system operators. Most recently, she worked as a postdoctoral fellow with the Accelerating Community Energy Transformation project.
Annie holds a PhD and Bachelor of Applied Science in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Ottawa, where she developed a model to predict the energy output of two-sided ("bifacial") solar panels that launched the software startup Enurgen.
She is based in the Vancouver office.
