Across Canada, a growing number of businesses are stepping up and leading the transition to electric vehicles. These companies are making the strategic decision to modernize their fleets and to lower their fuel and maintenance costs. They are investing in the future of transportation and in doing so, they are helping create cleaner, quieter, more efficient transportation for their operations and for the communities they serve. Their leadership is helping Canada reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality for Canadians.
Trucks and vans make up just 4% of vehicles on Canada’s roads, but they are responsible for about 30% of transportation emissions. That means even switching a small portion of these vehicles to electric can have a big impact on air quality and public health while reducing the social and economic costs of traffic pollution. In Canada, traffic-related air pollution is responsible for 1,200 deaths annually and billions of dollars in economic costs. The fleets that are moving first are strengthening their reputations as innovative, forward-thinking leaders in their industries. Their leadership deserves recognition.
The Canadian Clean Fleet Awards, launched by Electric Autonomy Canada in partnership with the Pembina Institute, and with generous funding from Trottier, celebrate the companies driving this transition. The awards recognize fleets of all sizes that are electrifying their vehicles, adopting innovative solutions around charging and demonstrating leadership in decarbonization. By highlighting these real-world examples, the program shows that the transition to electric transportation is already underway across Canada, not a distant goal but a growing reality.
For fleet owners, switching to electric vehicles delivers real cost savings. Electrification can cut fuel and maintenance costs by up to 40%, protect businesses from diesel price swings and position companies as leaders in a rapidly changing industry.
The awards also give fleets an opportunity to share their stories and the milestones they’ve achieved while recognizing the partners, including charging providers, consultants and engineers, who help make electrification possible. This year, we are celebrating fleets across several categories, including:
- Grand Clean Fleet Award – overall leader in electrification
- Best in Class Award – outstanding performance by vehicle class
- Outsized Impact Award – major results from smaller fleets
- Innovation Award – creative solutions advancing electrification
Applications and nominations are open until June 8, 2026. Fleets can apply themselves or be nominated by others by sharing milestones, challenges and lessons learned along the way. This is an opportunity to showcase leadership, highlight your team’s work and help inspire other fleets across Canada. Winners will be recognized for their leadership and innovation, and for helping lead Canada toward a cleaner, healthier and more competitive transportation sector.
Is your fleet electrifying, or do you know one leading the way? Nominate them.
