CALGARY — Linda Coady, executive director of the Pembina Institute, made the following statement in response to the Governor General’s appointment of David Runnalls as an Officer of the Order of Canada:
“On behalf of all of us at the Pembina Institute, I congratulate our chair, David Runnalls, on his well-deserved appointment as an Officer of the Order of Canada in recognition of his decades-long commitment to promoting environmentally sustainable development around the world. David has started, led, and supported many environmental think-tanks and non-governmental organizations in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. Among his many influential roles, he served as an advisor to Maurice Strong, Secretary General of the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm, and as president and CEO of the International Institute for Sustainable Development.
“David has been a member of the Pembina Institute’s board of directors for more than a decade. He has spent his career in the service of non-profit organizations, dedicated to bringing the case for sustainability to the forefront of public debate and understanding. We at the Pembina Institute count ourselves as lucky to have benefited from his leadership, advice, and commitment to advancing Canada’s clean energy future. Once again, congratulations to David and his family on this tremendous honour.”
