CALGARY — Two veterans of Canada’s energy and environmental landscape have joined the Pembina Institute’s board of directors.

Beverly (Bev) Yee served the Alberta government for more than 25 years, with the bulk of her career focused on policies to enable sustainable natural resource development. She led the development of Alberta’s Water for Life Strategy, land use plans including the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan, Alberta’s cumulative effects management system and the province’s climate change strategy.

Marlo Raynolds has also spent more than 25 years in energy and environmental leadership, including as the Pembina Institute’s executive director from 2004 to 2012. He was on the BluEarth Renewables executive team, developing commercial scale wind, solar and hydro projects, then served as chief of staff to two Canadian ministers of Environment and Climate Change from 2015 to 2021. He is currently CEO of Charger Ready Properties, working to advance EV charging stations across Canada.

“We are excited to welcome these two veterans of Canada’s energy and environmental landscape to our team,” Pembina Institute Board Chair Thomas Marr-Laing said. “Bev brings an incredible track record in policy toward responsible natural resource development — and she truly lives the mantra that relationships are everything. In this critical moment for Canada, we’re eager to hear her thoughts on how better inter-governmental cooperation can help build a stronger, more resilient Canada.”

“Marlo brings a truly impressive depth and variety of experience to the team,” Pembina Institute Executive Director Chris Severson-Baker said. “He led our organization through transformative growth and development, then pivoted to the private sector, then the federal environment minister’s office to do the same. Although Canada faces some serious economic headwinds, Marlo understands that this moment also presents an opportunity for Canada to lean into clean electrification and position our country to thrive in the new clean energy economy. We look forward to more of his excellent contributions to our Institute’s work.”
