
Bev Yee, a member of the Pembina Institute's board of directors, is recently retired from the Alberta Public Service where she served for over 25 years. In that time, Bev held senior positions in a number of different departments, including Municipal Affairs, Agriculture and Forestry, Intergovernmental Relations, Environment and Parks, and Skilled Trades and Professions.
The bulk of Bev’s career has been spent on policy development primarily on natural resource management topics. She led the development of Alberta’s longstanding Water for Life Strategy, developed regional land use plans including the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan, and was instrumental in developing and implementing Alberta’s cumulative effects management system. Bev has also worked for many years on climate change, leading the development of Alberta’s climate change strategy.
A significant part of Bev’s work in the Alberta Public Service involved working with a broad range of stakeholders and partners, especially in problem-solving and solution-making on complex issues. She has successfully led a number of multi-stakeholder initiatives that provided policy advice to government.
Bev is an alumnus of the University of Calgary with a B.Sc. in biology and a B.Ed. in secondary science education. In her retirement, Bev is doing volunteer work and enjoying yoga, painting and singing in a choir.
