The Reframed Initiative: Partnering on Delivery of Deep Retrofits at Scale Webinar by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)

Jun. 3, 2021  1:00pm - 2:00pm EDT webinar - Public event

Tom-Pierre Frappé-Sénéclauze, Director of Buildings and Urban Solutions at Pembina Institute, will speak at an upcoming webinar by the CMHC's National Housing Strategy. His talk will summarize results from the Reframed Initiative and articulate some of the procurement innovations for six demonstration projects underway in B.C.

With high property costs, low vacancy rates and long waiting lists, we cannot afford to lose aging affordable housing stock. Older buildings provide affordable housing, with many built before 2000. At the same time, meeting climate targets will require renovating almost 600,000 dwellings per year. This presents a once in a lifetime opportunity to address overdue repairs and extend the buildings' useful lives by 50+ years.

The Reframed Initiative aims to accelerate the roll out of deep retrofits. Inspired by a Dutch market transformation strategy called Energiesprong, the Pembina Institute takes an ecosystem approach. Working with regulators, financiers and industry and housing providers to remove barriers and stimulate innovation will allow to triple the rate of retrofits in Canada.
