ClimateCHECK and Pembina Institute Establish Cooperative Agreement

July 9, 2007

ClimateCHECK and the Pembina Institute are pleased to announce they have entered a cooperative agreement for providing advisory and verification services for greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and GHG projects that reduce emissions to mitigate climate change.

"Both Pembina and ClimateCHECK have aligned interests in ensuring the highest level of environmental integrity when it comes to verification and validation of GHG reductions in Canada and abroad. Between the two organizations, we look forward to setting a high standard of excellence in the market." notes Matt McCulloch, Co-Director of Pembina's Corporate Consulting Services.

"As a leading environmental organization, Pembina has a reputation for excellent work that is based upon pragmatic approaches to environmental issues.  The complementary capacities of each organization offer companies a robust toolkit of services - for example, regarding validation of GHG methodologies for technical correctness, policy consistency and acceptability with key stakeholders." said Tom Baumann, CEO of ClimateCHECK.

The cooperative agreement enables ClimateCHECK and Pembina to collaborate in providing advisory and verification services to companies throughout Canada based on the new ISO 14064 GHG Standards and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and World Resources Institute (WBCSD/WRI) GHG Protocol for Projects, while combining highly knowledgeable expertise on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and GHG policies.
