In response to an era of "polycrisis" — affordability, climate change and volatile trade dynamics — governments across Canada are identifying and accelerating nation-building projects to set up the economy for long-term resilience. Here in B.C., we are embarking on fast-paced, once-in-a-generation economic investments.
There is tremendous opportunity for investments in the clean energy economy to support economic prosperity, jobs, affordable energy, emissions reductions, and improved public health outcomes. This will require alignment across a range of sectors: building retrofits, electrified transportation, a clean and modernized electricity grid, diverse energy generation — and of course, the investments needed to make it all work together.
This invitation-only event the Pembina Institute is co-hosting with The Clean Economy Bridge will tap into the perspectives of Canadian and European experts and the expertise of thought leaders in industry, government, labour, Indigenous communities and civil society. We'll explore how our current political imperatives can find common ground with emissions reductions to deliver the clean energy transition by considering the role of government and related policy in a B.C. context.
The dialogue will be a closed-door event with no media present, following Chatham House Rule, with a report summarizing the Pembina Institute's learnings and recommendations to follow.
