This webinar will bring together insights from the Pembina Institute’s research in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario to show how Canada can unlock a new era of prosperity and spur long-term investments in Canadian industry by accelerating our use of lower-carbon concrete. This can be achieved by harmonizing and modernizing our standards and procurement methods, integrating performance-based approaches, and equipping workers with the right tools. Drawing on expertise and findings from industry interviews, the session will highlight what’s working, what gaps remain, and how aligning codes, procurement, and workforce readiness can catalyse made-in-Canada innovation at scale. Participants will learn how lower-carbon concrete supports affordability, competitiveness, and high-quality jobs — and why now is the moment to build a unified national approach to low-carbon materials.
