Samir Kayande has had a 25-year career as an analyst in the energy sector, specializing in oil and gas, electrical power, financial services, and new digital platforms for management decision making. He is now an independent consultant providing advice on corporate strategy, software product positioning, and energy economics. Before establishing his own firm, Samir had director-level accountability at RS Energy Group, where he advised energy companies and investors, and provided economic expertise to a development team that built out a successful energy-focused software platform. Born in Ft. McMurray, Alberta, Samir received a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Alberta and a master of business administration from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon. Samir believes capital allocation and investment supported by rigorous analysis is one of the keys to the successful transition to a net-zero energy future. He frequently provides commentary on energy issues for CBC, the Globe and Mail, the Financial Post, and Bloomberg TV.
