Richard Rysak

Richard is the Pembina Institute's director of finance. He is a financial professional with decades of financial management and business operations experience with public and private companies. Some of his professional highlights include working in Calgary’s oil patch (Dome Petroleum and Bow Valley Resource Services), privatizing AGT to became Telus, launching and eventually selling a couple of small businesses, and business consulting to clients in various industries including indigenous entrepreneurs in business planning and financial management.

Prior to joining the Institute, Richard was director of finance for several years with the Toronto Atmospheric Fund (now called The Atmospheric Fund) – an arm’s-length non-profit agency of the City of Toronto focused on reducing carbon emissions in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas. At TAF Richard oversaw financial and operational matters including management of a $45M endowment.

Richard and his wife are empty-nesters with condos in downtown Toronto and Calgary where their adult “kids” and grandkids live. Richard’s outside interests include fitness, bicycling, hiking and sailing.
