Melanie KaralisSenior Communications Lead

Melanie Karalis is senior communications lead for the Communities and Decarbonization team and advocates for policy change through the media and communications. Melanie brings over 10 years of experience leading public relations strategies in the public and non-profit sectors. She has worked for the UK Government’s Department of Health, Scotland’s National Health Service, and charities campaigning for change around the world. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University and started her career reporting for The Times Colonist newspaper in Victoria and Radio Peace in Ghana.

In her most recent role, she focused on climate communications for a Scottish international development charity and led on media relations at COP26 in Glasgow. Returning home to Canada, Melanie is looking forward to collaborating with journalists, government and stakeholders on the most pressing issue of our time: the climate crisis.
