Marlo Raynolds

Marlo Raynolds is a Canadian environmental leader who served as the executive director of the Pembina Institute from 2004 to 2012, achieving transformative growth. During his tenure, Marlo doubled the organization’s budget and staff, tripled its media presence and almost quadrupled its output of reports and ideas on sustainable energy. 

Marlo has over twenty-five years’ experience in leadership roles in energy and environment across the non-profit (Pembina Institute), business (BluEarth Renewables, Charger Ready Properties), and government (Environment and Climate Change Canada) sectors. Having built and led many teams, Marlo has a proven track record in leadership and management.  He holds a PhD in mechanical engineering (University of Alberta), a BSc in systems design engineering (University of Waterloo), and a master’s degree in management and leadership (University of McGill) and was recognized among Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2008.  Marlo lives in a net-zero energy home in the Canadian Rockies with his wife and two teenage kids. In his spare time, Marlo loves biking, snowboarding, hiking, and paddling.
