Gurprasad Gurumurthy is a senior analyst with the Pembina Institute's electricity program, based in Toronto, where he focuses on developing strategies for achieving a net-zero electricity grid. Before joining the Pembina Institute, Guru worked with the Ecology Action Centre on phasing out coal in Nova Scotia, and on renewable energy development and international climate policy with the Energy and Resources Institute in India.
Guru holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering, specializing in emission inventories for coal-based power plants, from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical and automation engineering. In his free time, he enjoys writing screenplays, composing music, playing soccer, and hiking local trails.
