On September 19 and 20, 2012, the Pembina Institute convened a Shale Gas Thought Leader Forum, bringing together a group of 72 stakeholders representing key decision makers and experts on shale gas from the public and private sectors, First Nations, community groups, environmental non-governmental organizations and academia to, among other things, establish a base level of knowledge of environmental concerns associated with shale gas development.
In advance of the forum, the Pembina Institute worked with a multi-stakeholder expert advisory panel to create a pre-read and meeting agenda. The pre-read package covers shale gas development in Canada, the state of science around environmental issues, and industry voluntary initiatives to address these issues.
