Renewables in Remote Communities 2017 Conference

This year is the 3rd biennial Renewables in Remote Microgrids / Communities conference – a northern event for story sharing, innovative thinking and discussions on financial capacity and human capacity issues facing renewable energy deployment in remote Indigenous communities across Canada. This year’s event will showcase the great momentum in this area and provide an opportunity to collaboratively discuss how to unlock the business cases for clean energy projects and the Indigenous community capacity required to do so.

This conference will focus on two critical dimensions of advancing clean energy systems: financial capacity and human capacity. We will tackle each of these aspects with the goal of providing further direction as to what financial mechanisms and human capacity programs will enable the continued success of clean energy deployment.

This year’s conference is expected to attract 200 participants, including Indigenous community leaders, and representatives from provincial/ territorial and federal governments, academia and researchers, non-profits, the financial sector and renewable energy industries.
