TORONTO — Cherise Burda, Ontario policy director at the Pembina Institute, has been named to Canada's 2014 Clean50 list, which recognizes Canadian leaders advancing sustainability and clean capitalism.
Burda leads a group at the Institute that is producing new and unique analyses of transportation and urban development in Ontario. Earlier this week, Premier Kathleen Wynne appointed her to the province’s transit investment strategy advisory panel.
"I'm very proud of the positive influence the Pembina Institute has had on transportation and urban development issues in recent years," said Burda. "Approximately one-third of all energy consumed in Canada is used to move people and goods. Greening our transportation sector is a key part of transitioning to a clean energy future.”
Canada’s Clean50 Awards are announced annually by Delta Management Group to recognize the 50 individuals or small teams, from 16 different categories, who have done the most to advance the cause of sustainability and clean capitalism in Canada over the past two years. Ed Whittingham, executive director of the Pembina Institute, and former executive director Marlo Raynolds were both named to the 2012 list.
