Interview: Dr. Christine Wörlen on the German renewable energy revolution

In 2011 Germany reached a major green energy goal - more than 20 per cent of Germany's electricity is now being produced by renewable energy. The country has ambitous goals and a new plan to eliminate nuclear power. Dr. Christine Wörlen is the former head of renewable energies for the German Energy Agency and she's worked on projects in 60 countries for the UN. We caught up with Dr. Wörlen in Edmonton where she was speaking at Grant MacEwan University and City Hall about the German renewable energy revolution.

Talk: Dr. Christine Wörlen at Grant MacEwan University:the German renewable energy revolution

Here is Dr. Wörlen's entire talk at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The talk is 64 minutes.

Interview: Paul Gipe: How the renewable energy revolution was fueled by feed-in tariffs

Califormia renewable energy advocate and consultant Paul Gipe spoke to the City of Edmonton Task Force on Renewable Energy on Sept. 25 while on a whirlwind tour of Alberta. We interviewed him and Pembia's Tim Weis outside City Hall in Edmonton (apologies for the sound quality).

Greening the Grid in Alberta

Tim Weis, author of "Greening the Grid, Powering Alberta's Future With Renewable Energy" says Alberta could transform its dirty electricity supply (currently 70% coal-based) to one that is 70% renewable and clean energy in just 20 years.

Can Canada Catch the Renewable Energy Boom?

Tim Weis and European energy experts discuss the vast potential for developing a renewable energy industry in Canada in a recently released video by Living Lightly Productions. Studies by the Pembina Institute show that there is enough renewable energy potential to phase out electricity generated from fossil fuels or nuclear.

Ontario's Renewable Energy Revolution

Ontario has taken a huge step forward with its new Green Energy Act and feed-in-tariff programs to support the development of clean, renewable energy in Ontario. Pembina's Renewable Energy Director, Tim Weis speaks at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton about climate change, Ontario's amazing new green energy programs and the possibilities for Greening the Grid in Alberta. Tim's Nov. 2009 presentation is presented here in in eight parts via YouTube. The video was produced by Barb Allard as a co-production between SolarAlberta.ca and Rainbow Bridge Communications.
