Assessing the Mackenzie Gas Project's Contribution to Sustainability

Why Wise Use Matters

Published Sept. 1, 2007

By Jaisel Vadgama, Matt Gray

This report was prepared for the Sierra Club of Canada for submission to the Joint Review Panel for the Mackenzie Gas Project. It analyzes the Mackenzie Gas Project's potential for positive contributions to sustainability, with a particular focus on contributions to sustainable energy systems. The report's authors argue that producing gas from the Mackenzie Valley could— despite its being a non-renewable fossil fuel — help to facilitate a transition towards sustainable energy systems under the right conditions.
