Senior staff changes at the Pembina Institute

June 21, 2011

OTTAWA — The Pembina Institute is pleased to announce new roles for two of its senior staff members, Matthew Bramley and Clare Demerse.

Effective immediately, Dr. Bramley becomes the Institute's first director of research, a role in which he will lead and advise on research and analysis projects across the organization. Dr. Bramley was previously director of the Pembina Institute's climate change program for a decade, during which time he became one of Canada's best-known advocates for effective government policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Also with immediate effect, Ms. Demerse becomes director of Pembina's climate change program, leading the organization's efforts to strengthen Canada's response to the threat of global warming. Ms. Demerse joined the climate change program in 2006, and has since become a prominent commentator and advocate on the issue.

Ms. Demerse will be the Pembina Institute's primary public spokesperson on climate change. Dr. Bramley will also continue to be a public spokesperson on this and other energy-related issues.
