Delivering Last Mile Solutions Presented by the Pembina Institute

Jun. 25, 2019  3:00pm - 6:00pm EDT Toronto, Ontario panel - Invitation only

As e-commerce activity and the demand for same-day and home deliveries grow, more freight vehicles are expected to hit the road. This will contribute to not only increasing carbon pollution, but also greater traffic congestion, noise on our streets, and competition for the curbside. In order to keep up with soaring demand for goods movement while mitigating the negative impacts of freight activity in dense urban areas, some businesses are rethinking their delivery operations, turning to solutions such as microhubs and cargo bikes.

In this exciting exciting panel discussion and social mixer we will share the Pembina Institute’s findings on this topic, featured in the new report Delivering Last Mile Solutions: A feasibility analysis of microhubs and cyclelogistics in the GTHA. Come and hear insights from:

  • MPP Jessica Bell (University—Rosedale) will provide opening remarks
  • Marc Smith, director, strategy and ecommerce partnerships at Canada Post, and;
  • Aylin Lusi, vice president, public affairs at UPS Canada, will both discuss the megatrends and disruptions changing how goods are being delivered to customers
  • Nazzareno Capano, manager, transportation policy and innovation at the City of Toronto, will shed light on growing freight and goods movement challenges

Presented by the Pembina Institute, this event is made possible by the support of the Metcalf Foundation, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and The Atmospheric Fund. We thank Green Living Enterprises for help with organizing.
